Congratulation to our U16 Athletic squad, League Cup Finals winners at StadiumMK yesterday winning 4-3 against Cranfield.

Match Report by Jimi Madgin, U16 Athletic Manager:

"It was an exhilarating game with end to end action which ended in a fabulous 4-3 win for RRYFC U16 Athletic. With the half time score all level at 3-3, one of the referees said:

  • "That first half was one of the best games of youth football we have seen at the Dons".

"He was right! All six goals were top quality. Athletic's three came from a curling 20 yard free kick from Brandon into the top corner and two outstanding solo goals from Harry Carnall after good passing moves".

"The winning goal came from Man of the match Harry Carnall claiming his hat trick. Joseph dispossessed the last man defender, raced towards goal and his shot was saved by the keeper, which then fell to Harry who fired in his 3rd".

"In the final minutes the team showed there grit and determination to win as Cranfield had a succession of corners which the boys dealt with".

"To play the way the team did on a massive stage in front hundreds of supporters was truly amazing. Every player in the squad earned this victory, every player played there part".

"The squad and coaches would like to thank all the friends and family that turned up to support us on the day. They made themselves heard and helped us pull through to the end".

"A fairytale ending..."

A huge well done to the players, manager, coaches and parents from all at RRYFC.
